Live Roleplay (LRP)
LRP, or Live Role-Playing, is an immersive form of role-playing game where participants physically act out their characters and scenarios. Using costumes and props players engage in storytelling and adventure, bringing their characters to life in real-time under the watchful eye of the Games Master, who writes the story. Each event can vary in theme and rules, allowing for a unique experience that combines creativity, collaboration, and fun. Whether it's a fantasy world or a historical setting, LARP invites players to step into a different reality and explore new together.

Leah and Conor have been running Live Roleplay each for over 10 years. It is a contact game, where you hit each other with (foam) swords and walk up uneven ground and hills. Please make sure that you discuss any issues with Leah beforehand if you're worried about the logistics.

Grimm’s fairytales are some of the most well known stories in the world. Over 200 stories, written around 1812, including Rapunzel, Little Red-Cap (Red Riding Hood), Little Briar Rose (Sleeping Beauty), Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, and Cinderella among many, many others. For a list, see the end of this rulebook.
The fairy stories by Grimm are not very much like their modern-day counterparts, as many are filled with uneasy themes. They can be gruesome and unsettling rather than being the uplifting stories aimed at children we know of today.
And that’s why, when suddenly Grimm’s fairytales come to life tomorrow… Reality will never be the same again.
There’ll be a flash of light in the sky at 6:12pm in the evening. It will only last a moment, but when the lightning has ceased, something will feel different. It’s like electricity in the air, an oppressive, gut-wrenching feeling that doesn’t quickly go away. Then, like many others, you’ll open your front door or window to look for the reason you feel so uneasy.
What you’ll find out there will give you shivers, and you will realise that you may never feel safe again.
Maybe you will find the big bad wolf, stalking you and ready to pounce. Or the witch, desiring to cook you in her oven. Maybe it’s the evil stepmother and stepsisters, intent on locking you in the basement, or a terrible wizard who dismembered his previous wives and you’re next.
It could also be the cannibals… Like the cannibalistic witches of Hansel and Gretel.
So when you go to sleep tonight, enjoy it. Savour the peace and quiet, the gentle slumber, because it’s the last time you’ll sleep peacefully for a long, long time.
↬Characters
Play as an original fairytale character set in the world of a Grimm tale who has come to the real world or, for example, an unsuspecting insurance salesperson who comes face to face with the stuff of their nightmares. Working together could be the only way to survive in this new world.
How you end up on the front line, working alongside Motherwell’s best and brightest minds is anyone's guess. Maybe you're an expert on witches, or were drafted in because nobody else wanted to and it's your alternative to jail time, calling it ‘community service’. .
Other reasons could be that you're a wiz with technology, a good witch wanting to help or even that you're one of the bad wolves who has a vested interest in the worlds going back to how they were, so you're willing to play nice.
Whatever your reason for volunteering (or being involuntarily volunteered), you'll need to work together with your companions if you want to succeed in your task and get out alive.
